The Familiar Friend Verse (Friday verse series)

*This post is part of my "friday verse" series* This is only the second friday verse post...follow up every friday...

Psalm 41: 9 "Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me."

So this friday, beware of the 'familiar friend' phenomenon. It's not just everyone that is familiar with you that can be called your true friend. People think close friends are the ones you tell all your secrets too. No, I'm sorry to tell u but u're dead wrong. Be careful abt people clamoring for GISTS! Your close friends are those who when you're in dire need are ready to give up all they have for you, and these ones are RARE. They don't jump on your beds every second of the day. They are not the bug-aboos. They don't have to talk to you every second on the phone for you to see their hearts. You'll be shocked at what so-called familiar friends can do.
You'll be so shocked left, right, and center. Let ONLY God be your Rock and your Strong Tower. He's the only One that can show you the heart of your friends, and thats only if you already have a relationship with your Father. Without a relationship, how will you get to that point of knowing what man cannot reveal to you? You can't have wisdom or direction with your own abilities. Without having God's love, how will you know what TRUE LOVE means? If a girl's daddy does not tell his daughter, "I love you," then every Tom, Dick and Harry might as well say it...and she'll believe! Either ways, forgive them (familiar friends), for they are only human. Even the Word says, "cursed is anyone who puts their trust in another man." So at the end of the day, the choice lies in your hands. We all have so many limitations, so why not just put your trust in the One who can never fail you...who, unlike your various familiar friends here and there, has NO LIMITATIONS...

I read this in one of Bishop Eddie Long's book..."Be careful what you say! There are somethings we don't need to talk about and especially to people who don't know God, don't want to know God, and show no interest in God"
It takes you going through adversities to discover who your true friends truly are. Even some family members will turn against you, but we can only forgive and move forward. Finding a True friend is like "water melon" (very hard to find the good ones).
Thank you so much for the warning...we can only pray to God to lead us aright.

@ 9ja Opeke...absolutely true talk...at the end of the day, when it boils down to it, you can only depend on Him for direction in friendship. But first and foremost, the bible calls God, "the friend who sticks closer tha a brother." His friendship is ultimate and a better priority!

Cheers...have a lovely weekend!

Happy Friday to you too. We need to continue to hear this, casue sometimes we forget that familiar friends still cannot be relied upon. We can only rely on God. Our Solid rock who never changes. Have a good weekend.
