Love series Part I: the clanging cymbal

"She was known far and wide. People crossed the oceans just to look for her. She was renowned in her writings. People sought after her inspiration, they gave anything to read her manuscripts. There was a man who sold all his possessions in order to start collecting her works. She was a muse, and she did it well. She put her whole soul and spirit into what she did. Every time she put something down on paper, some tears slid down her beautiful face. All because she was a partaker in the afflictions. She was the one she wrote about. It was her pain she wrote about. It was about her fury, desires, actions, strengths, and weaknesses. It was her passion...and she was very open. She was fluent, her words were as smooth as honey, dripping down the throats of those who read them..."

She was very fluent...but she had no LOVE...
"she had no one to love her, so she gave out no love..."

Her story was the opening paragraph of 1 corinthians 13:

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal."

If these musical instruments are placed in the hands of musical knowledge-deprived people, they would produce horrible sounds. But if placed in the hands of geniuses, people who have been trained to play their tunes, and people who are 100% passionate about music, then the tunes will come alive again.

The same analogy goes into skillful lovelessness. Free your libido. Free your heart. You can be the most sought-after writer, artist, or the most important persona prominente, but all those things minus LOVE equals ZERO. If there is no love in your heart, then you're just like a noisy musical instrument that dictates no passion.

*Love is giving and not expecting back. Love is from the heart. Love projects your passion. People can see when your love is transparent. God is love*

Love is giving and not expecting back.... That really hit me.
Why is it that what I get from love expatiation is that one should love forgetting a return/resciprocation of the same? Doesn't someone feel outta place when you expend your love not expecting to get back?

Love this post... well written and it is true - LOVE IS GIVING AND NOT EXPECTING BACK. Love shouldn't be selfish but things get mixed up.

Thanks for this :-)

Love shows your Loyalty - Many times we are disloyal to God - but Our God who is forever Love and Loyal - never expects us to be devoid of love - But to apply Love in every aspect of our life.

Have a blessed week.

LOLLL @ cherub...hmm...

@ Anthony...guess what? Read this: Matthew 5: 43-47

"You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven...For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?"

Basically, it's saying that it's very easy to love those who already love us, but thats the NORMAL thing to do. But to differentiate us as children of God, we have to do the extraordinary...love those who even hate us, just as God loves all of us whether or not we like him (it doesn't matter whether we've spat on His face and His word before, He still loves us).

~muah~ to everyone...I know u guys are having a fabulous day...this is the start of a new 'love' series, stemming from 1 corinthians version of 'love.'

Talking of agape love that is... Not the wordly lustful desires? On that note, yeah our God is a God of love, "for His love have been shed abroad in our Hearts by the Holy Ghost" Romans 5:5b.... who are we not to show that to people?

Missy are you alright?

Anyways have a wonderful weekend!

Jennifer A. said...

hey nilla dear...I'm doing great thank you...I have been studying for an exam I have on monday...

God has given me a topic to write on already, but I'll wait till I put my all into it (and for God to tell me exactly the words to say)before I even dare to put it up...so that it will be "quality" and not a "mediocre" work...

Have the greatest weekend ever...

I pray that God's love will overwhelm all of us (and anyone else who reads this), even unto repentance (that we will do those things we used to do no more), and that the love that will come out of us as a result of this will make us not to sound like clanging or noisy cymbals, but like a melodious love song...
