The Sour Wine was mixed with Gall...

This is the story of LOVE. As I read about this love each day my knowledge seems to be transcending to even greater thresholds. This kind of love cannot be compared with anything else, so I must share the story.

"And when they had come to the place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, they gave Him sour wine mixed with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink it." Matthew 27: 34. Also, "And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of the skull. Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it." Mark 15:23

Why, you may ask! WHY DID HE REFUSE???

I just learnt about the secret to 'wine mixed with gall,' or as Mark puts it, 'wine mixed with myrrh.'

Did you know that wine is used to deaden PAIN? I did my research and found out that there is something in wine that depresses the central nervous system (CNS), and hence causes 'pain relief.' That was the first thing they put into the drink..."wine." Obviously you can tell that the soldiers who crucified Jesus were humane enough to want to deaden His pain just a little bit. But Jesus tasted it and refused it.

But then they took it even a step further. Did you know that a combination of "sour wine and gall" is MEDICINAL? Did you know that it served as an anesthetic back in ancient times? A drink that could serve the purpose of alleviating one's pain? Today, I present the fact that the Bible records that they offered an anesthetic to Jesus, so that it could alleviate and decrease the pain He felt when a crown of thorns pierced His head and when they drove huge nails through His two hands and feet. But the Bible records that Jesus refused the sour wine mixed with gall/or mixed with myrrh. This makes me understand that He did this for me and you. No, let me put it this way. He wanted to feel EVERY SINGLE BIT OF "PAIN," so that His blood will mean so much more to us.

Wikipedia defines what exactly myrrh is:

"Myrrh is a red-brown resinous material, the dried sap of the tree Commiphora myrrha, native to Somalia and the eastern parts of Ethiopia. Myrrh is currently used in some liniments, healing salves that may be applied to abrasions and other minor skin ailments. It is also used in the production of Fernet Branca. Fernet Branca is a bitter, aromatic spirit made from 27 herbs and spices, including myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, cardamom, aloe, and saffron, with a base of grape alcohol. The recipe is a secret, and was created by the young Maria Scala in 1845 in Milan as a medicine."

The dictionary defines gall as "a digestive juice secreted by the liver and stored in the gallbladder; aids in the digestion of fats." Further research showed me that "Gall" was poisonous liver bile. It was mixed with sweet wine and given to deaden the pain of dying.

He refused the drink. There's a mystery to that statement. He opted out of "deadening His pain." He wanted to FEEL IT!!! He felt EVERY SINGLE PAIN just for ME and YOU...do you get it, or is it just me? I don't want to even try to imagine how much pain He must have felt because I have scars on my body, and I know I felt pain. But the thoughts of nails driven through my hand (or a crown of thorns piercing my soft skull) makes me sweat and makes my blood boil. No one needs to tell me that I am IMPORTANT to God.

***Never have I seen or heard of a love greater than this. Have you?***

Taking it back to Eden...

Dominion...Peaceful…serene…beautiful…natural…luscious…ever-green…domesticated…satisfaction…pleasure...joy...laughter...carefree...sunshine...beauty...

They had DOMINION in Eden. They could pretty much do anything they wanted to do. They could command the day to favor their hobbies. They could command the light to shine their way. They could command the animals to go and come. They named all creatures, they controlled the earth. They controlled the universe. They had dominion. Not until sin got them. Sin captured them and dominion fell out of their hands. They became blinded to control. They became scared and cold. Their hearts were turned away from God and their eyes were open to evil.

Eden was a mystery and still is. In Eden, God gave us dominion. After Eden we lost dominion. But after Jesus, we’ve got dominion back. Let’s go back to the place called Eden. Jesus said, “even greater things shall we do…” as He was ascending back to heaven. In other words, in that one sentence He gave dominion back to us. The power to put the devil in his place is ‘dominion.’ The power to command things to work according to God’s plan is ‘dominion.’ The power NOT to sin is ‘dominion.’ The power to discern good and evil is ‘dominion.’ The power to rule your life and not let any other human being control you is 'dominion.' Gaining dominion back has been made possible once again, but I guess many may not understand the concept. It is just like many concepts in physics that people do not bother to understand (for instance the concept of gravity). But you need to have one day of dominion to understand its beauty…

There have been some days in my life where I woke up in the morning and commanded my day to align itself to God’s word. “Lord, order my steps today for the steps of the righteous are ordered. Let my feet only go to where it’s supposed to go to.” At the end of the day, when I looked back in retrospect, I found out that there were many things I did that I felt I had no physical control over…it was as if my legs were directed by an invisible hand…only moving to places that will benefit me. That’s dominion.

***Let us take it back to Eden tonight.

The Choice

"Choose to believe. Every time you're in a plane, you believe the pilot knows what he is doing. When the airplane shakes and the pilot says there's only a slight turbulence and you shouldn't be worried, you really believe there's no need to worry." Pastor Wale T. So why can't you belive the Pilot of your life? Why can't you believe God knows where He is taking you to? Why can't you just rest upon His wings? You have the POWER to CHOOSE to believe God's Word.

Why do YOU love Him?

***This post is part of the friday verse series. May you come to the place where you can define exactly WHY you love Him this friday***

"I don't even know why I'm in this place. I don't even know what I'm doing here. Neither can I explain why I am with this group of people. Why are they singing? Why are they dancing? Why are they so happy?"

She couldn't understand it. But she didn't want to be here because of anybody. She wanted to be here because something drew her here. But she kept coming back for more each time. Each time, she asked the same questions "why am I here?", and each time she got the same warm response, "because I love you." She didn't understand the mysterious voice telling her He loved her, but still the next day she came back for more of the WORD. She decided to make a list. There was something that kept pulling her here. Something extraordinary that kept making her want for more. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing of the Word of God." So the more she heard, the more she got motivated, the more she heard, the more she got LIFE. It wasn't about the people there...it was about the One who drew her here. She was here because she was learning about someone who could love her much more than anyone could ever love her. She was here because the first time she came she heard that this God "knew her even before she was born, while she was yet in her mother's womb." What kind of God is this? Why does He think I matter so much to Him? Why does He care? Each one of them dancing in His presence had their different stories to tell. How they found God, and why they now love Him.

Some stories were drastic and some were bleak, but they all had one thing in common. They loved God because HE LOVED THEM FIRST.

Why did they love God? Their reasons are soooo non-exhaustive:

* For allowing Jesus to die on the cross for their sins, for the blood of Jesus* (John 3:16)

* For the things He had done for them * (Joshua 4:6-8)

* For the things He was about to do for them * (1 corinthians 2:9)

* For calling them ROYAL (Isaiah 62:3)

* For rescuing them from diverse trials (James 1:2)

* For giving them joy that became their strength (Nehemiah 8;10)

* For turning their mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11)

1 corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written: “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

I love Him for what He has done for me and for prooving that there is no other god like Him. For breathing into earth when it was void, for saying "let there be light," and there is still light till this very day. For making extraordinary plans for my life even while I was yet in my mother's womb.

***Do you know WHY you love God?

Do you even know whether you love Him at all?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? Do you love God?***

***And there was also BLOOD in SODOM***

"Ok, wait a second. Wasn't she right to think what she was thinking? She actually thought His blood was shed at "Golgotha?" It was Golgotha right? Or it was also called Calvary?...yes, it was. No, seriously though...she read that He walked through those crowds of people, fell down a couple of times, got laughed at, spat at, and mocked at...and finally arrived at a place called Golgotha. But now, she was reading a different book. She was reading the book of revelation and she wondered if there was an ERROR somewhere. There must be! Alas! Ha ha! She thought she had found an error in the bible. She giggled, then she looked again...

Revelation 11:8 said, "And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."

This is a joke right? Jesus was NOT crucified in Sodom, and neither was He crucified in Egypt. The person that wrote this had got to be JOKING!!! It wasn't until the Holy Spirit began to teach her slowly that she realized that there can never be an error in this BOOK of all books. God slowly began to teach her certain things..."

The word 'Sodom' signifies a place of 'hideous sins.' Sins that cannot even be pronounced. Sins that are worse than anything we can ever think of ~ Was it prostitution? It was done in Sodom. Was it incest? It was done in Sodom. Was it immoral sex? It was done in Sodom. Was it murder? It was done in Sodom. Infact, any sin you want to think of was done in Sodom...thats why Sodom and Gomorrah had to be burnt into ashes (forever!!!!).

The word 'Egypt' stands for bondage.

These two words were inspired and were NOT not erroneous. They represent the fact that no matter how HIDEOUS you think your sin is...the BLOOD OF JESUS was shed for you. No matter how much in BONDAGE you think you are in...the BLOOD OF JESUS was shed for you. There is POWER in the BLOOD OF JESUS to wipe out every hideous crime that we've committed. The blood was shed in Calvary/Golgotha...but it was also shed in Sodom and Egypt...the places that represent the greatest sins you have ever committed. The blood can wipe off anything...you just have to believe you've been forgiven and start living a life of freedom and joy! Aren't you happy you're not in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah? You would indeed have been burnt into ashes along with the city...but no, Sodom and Gomorrah is history and Jesus came after that to prevent you from getting burnt. Now, no matter how hideous your sin is...the BLOOD OF JESUS has the potency of making it impotent! Infact, saying that Name makes everything tremble, innit? (I can invisibly see you nodding your head).

This is a true life revelation. The woman it was revealed to was Pastor Nike Wilheims, and she revealed it to us on sunday, March 18th, 2007. The blood was shed for whatever represents Sodom and Egypt in your life. You alone knows what your greatest sins are...(all sins are equal in God's eyes, but there are some things you've done that makes you TICK when you think about how you could have allowed yourself to do such a thing). It's okay now...you can start SMILING...

When God says let there be LIGHT, then there will be LIGHT....and there will be no SHADOW of darkness.

When God says you are HEALED, then you are healed...and there will be no SHADOW of SICKNESS.

When God says your womb is FERTILE, then you are FERTILE...and there will be no SHADOW of BARRENNESS.

When God says you're a KING, then you're a KING...and there will be no SHADOW of SLAVERY.

When God says your cup is FULL, then it is FULL...and there will be no SHADOW of EMPTINESS.

When God says you can FIGHT, then you can FIGHT...and there will be no SHADOW of WEAKNESS.

When God says you should SPEAK, then you should SPEAK...let there be no SHADOW of SILENCE.
When God says it is time to PROPHESY to your dry bones, then you should start to PROPHESY...let there be no SHADOW of TIMIDITY.

When God says you can SEE, then you can SEE...and there will be no SHADOW of BLINDNESS.

When God says you are BEAUTIFUL, then you are BEAUTIFUL...cast out all SHADOW of UGLINESS.

When God says there is PEACE, then there is PEACE...and there will be no SHADOW of TURBULENCE.

When God says you're FORGIVEN, then you are FORGIVEN...and there will be no SHADOW of REPERCUSSIONS.

When God says you're now in CANAAN, then you're actually in CANAAN...and there will no longer be a SHADOW of EGYPT.

When God says that He LOVES you, then He really LOVES you...and there is no shadow of DESPISE.

When God says you now have LIFE, then you indeed have LIFE...and there is no longer any SHADOW of DEATH.

When God says it's your time to LAUGH, then it's your time to LAUGH...and there will be no SHADOW of CRYING.

*Finding the Mona Lisa in you*

"Many lined up in front of the huge musee de louvre in Paris. But there was this lady who couldn't wait to identify with the very famous painting. She had heard about the painting ever since she was a very little girl, she heard her parents talk about it, she heard it being talked about on TV, on the radio, in newspapers, and in world renowned novels. Finally, today she was actually standing in front of the very doors that would lead her to the painting. She was wondering exactly how she would feel when she finished her determined task that very morning. How would she respond? Would she still feel the same excited way as she felt when she woke up that morning?

"Bonjour madame," the man at the door greeted her, apparently bristling with so much enthusiasm as if she was the first one at the museum that morning. "Bonjour monsieur," she responded. She entered the building. When she reached a large hallway at the front, a feeling of trepidation began to run down her spine. What was she doing trying to identify with something so profound anyways? She had to be kidding! Oh well, she couldn't have come this far only to start turning back. She summed up courage and glided straight to the location where the map indicated the painting hung. Then she stared at the painting which seemed like it had been hanging there for centuries, obviously in 'peace,' not minding the diverse languages of people who had come from far and wide to stare at it's beauty. Then tears started streaming down her face, for free. She was crying because she didn't understand how the painter did it. Who was this wonderful painter called Leonardo Da Vinci?

Today I was sitting in my room when I remembered last week friday @ TERC when Miguel started talking about the art of 'praise & worship.' It was a moment never to forget. We worshipped till we didn't want to leave our positions again, because we realized what makes us praise God. It was when we read psalm 139:14, which says "I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" that I caught the exact revelation of "the Artist and His painting." The psalmist said he would praise God because of the skillful way in which he was formed and created. God is the Artist, and you are His painting. You are beautiful and special in every single way. There are some secret things in you that you know no one else is capable of doing but you (and there are some secrets that you know about yourself that no one else knows ~ no one else comes close). Those secret things are your own 'Mona Lisa.' Every human being is a work of art, the ingredient God used to mold you is different from what He used to spice me up. I am maggi and you are knorr cube...there's just something about you. And if you think about it, just like how the painting of Mona Lisa made the woman cry, tears may threaten to fall down your face.

*So this monday, make up your mind to

PRAISE the Artist,

for you are fearfully and wonderfully made*

~I Call It Love~

As I'm studying, I quickly glance at my archives of youtube videos, and I find this. The way I see it is "God is LOVE, so LOVE definitely exists." So when people sing about love...it does somn to me!

Breaking the Silence Forever...

"At first, she could not tell anybody. She couldn't even cry. If she cried someone was going to ask her what was wrong with her. But it was a taboo. Something she never thought would happen to her. But it did, and she was asking God why. She thought the pain would go away, but it didn't...instead it just became more excruciating, too much to bear...so she kept asking God why. "Why me God???" She would cry when she was alone all at home. When the family got back home, she changed her countenance. She told them how her day went, fabulous of course..."never been better." She dilly-dallied with her parents ~ trying to make light conversation on the dinner table, but she was staring only into the eyes of her mom, because she couldn't stand looking at him ~ the man she called her 'father.'

She grew up. Many months passed, and the months turned into years. Some days she felt like she had forgotten, and then on other nights she would see herself waking up at the middle of the night, and shaking in a puddle of her own sweat. Never had she encountered such fear. In dreams that appeared real, so real that she could smell the stench from that very afternoon. So real that these days she couldn't fill the void inside of her, no matter who she had sex with. No guy could give her love anymore. She didn't "make love," she just had "sex." One night she couldn't take it anymore, so she went to the balcony on the left wing of the house. As soon as she stepped out, she felt a heavy rush of wind...just before she sank down on her knees and began to sob. She started going crazy. "Maybe the winds will carry my voice to God," she thought! So she began screaming from the top of her lungs, "God, why??? Why did MY OWN FATHER rape me?" Her voice was shaking, but she kept screaming..."my very own blood..." she cried...

Tonight, I bring forth the VOICES of many young women who have been raped. It's their voices crying out in the balcony, at the middle of the night. The very stories we've read that have brought us to tears many a time. The very thoughts that anyone can do this to their own flesh and blood, or even to a total stranger who they never saw again...

But WHY?

It's a haunting tragedy, one that can never be forgotten. But today, I want to present the God who saw you that night...His Name is "El Roi"...the God Who SEES... I'll present to you the WORD of God, the WORD that when Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, He said, "whoever drinks of this water, will NEVER thirst again..." So if you're reading this, believe that when you receive the truth of the word of God, you will be completely healed from looking for other sources to satisfy your thirst. I pray that God Himself speaks to you through His word, and that He will answer the very questions you're asking Him right now inside your hearts:

"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and satan also came among them. And the Lord said to satan, "From where have you come?" So satan answered the Lord and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it." Job 1:6-7. Don't let anyone deceive you that you will amount to nothing because of what you've been through. Its a fragment of your past, but there's something waiting for you if you look ahead...

*Just like Job, because of what you've been through, you will be blessed with double of what you had before you lost it. So that all men may see that I AM GOD, and that I can do the impossible. There is such a thing as 'refreshed PURITY' but u just need to make up your mind if you want it. Job was determined to get it back, are you?*

**My Ice Skating Trophy**

Oh today was just wonderful. So a group of 10 of us went on an *ice skating escapade* tonight. Boy, was it fun or what??? I put on my skating shoes and decided to step on the Capital Hills ice skating rink. I immediately went out (lol), geez...it was too slippery.

All of a sudden I began to feel like David when he was about to kill Goliath (lol). I saw all those other people skating, and I was like, "abeg, why can't I do this thing too???" Then my confidence rose to 100% just like that and I just stepped on the rink. Mennnn, fashi my skills oh. I just started gliding like an eagle, I felt I was even flying sef. The best part was when I was dancing to the music in the background...lol. I was so excited...ahn ahn...for a first-time ice skater...I was even dancing, on top of my new skills.

Oooh, another really cool thing was how all the skaters were going in one direction only (around the circle). Then, after a while...we heard the announcer on the overhead speakers go like, "attention all skaters, you are now commanded to move in the OPPOSITE direction." He he...so we all just turned simultaneously and began to glide in the opposite direction.

I fell three times sha. First time on my butt, 2nd time on my knees...and I don't know how I fell the third time. Loll...hope they didn't take my picture.

All in all, I thank God for a terrific evening and wonderful folk.

Its Saturday...and I'm PERSUADED!!!

Romans 8:38-39 "Now I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
