Hoping Against All Hope

Have you ever been in a situation where you have hoped and hoped, and it was going good, then when you were almost at the finish line, something tore your dreams apart? This is for someone who has been hoping that something great will happen, and who has been hoping for the longest time. This is for anyone who has been hoping that change will come...

Many of us have been there, I for one have been there time and time again. But this morning, God is saying that I must hope against all hope. I must hope even more than before now. I must hope ten thousand times more, because hope keeps the heart alive. Hope strengthens your trust in God. Hope says, "I know that He can do it, I may not know HOW or WHEN, but I know He can do it."

Even the psalmist felt like he had hoped against all hope. He talked about the tears he had cried, "You number my wanderings, Put my tears in a bottle, are they not in your book?" Psalm 56:8. Obviously, he must have cried a billion times, but he still kept hoping. Know that God sees all your tears, and He stores them in a safe box so that when your miracles come, you will see your tears and remember how you hoped. Isn't God the uncreated Creator? Isn't God the one who spoke and said, "Let there be LIGHT," and even till this day light exists every morning we wake up? There must be some hope left somewhere. You must still hope, because "the people who KNOW their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits." Daniel 11:32.

Hope is the dividing line between a suicide and life. Hope is the dividing line between depression and happiness. Hope is the thin line between a maniac and a calm soul. Hope is the thin line between a frown and a smile.

Hope is a CHOICE. Hope is not given freely. Paul says we have to practically chase HOPE. Hope is for those who can stretch out their hands to reach for the skies. Have you ever wondered why Jesus told the man with the "withered hand" to stretch out his hand? In Matthew 12:13, we can see that this man had one good hand and his other hand was withered. Jesus did not specifically ask him to stretch out the bad hand, all Jesus said was "stretch out your hand." But this man made an excellent choice, he made a choice to have hope. He knew he could stretch out his good hand, but instead he decided to stretch out his withered hand. No one is supposed to be able to stretch out a hand that cannot stretch, but his hope and his faith caused him to do so, and because of that his withered hand became whole as he exercised faith by stretching it out.

Hope against all hope, and you will get to the finish line.
Stretch out that thing that you think cannot be stretched anymore,
and see if God will not make you whole.

Jaycee,
Great word as usual. Hope is like a muscle that needs to be stretched, exercised and developed.

An author once said "Many times, it is easier to obey God than to trust Him." -Trust and hope are not within well-defined boundaries. The things/areas that necessitate trust might change daily.

But one thing is sure: Our trust and hope must be in the name of the Lord. The Lord who is faithful; The Lord who understands our fears, pains and cries; The Lord whose mercies never come to an end and are new every morning.
The Sovereign Lord who has ordained every detail of our lives and is orchestrating every step to the fulfillment of those details

Thanks for the relevant and timely words you write consistently.

the story of the guy by the pool..
for 38 years he could not get in..

yesterday in church...pastor said u should be ready for God's blessing cos it will surely come...

... the guy by the pool could have got his healing sooner if he dragged himself into the pool...

HOPE IS ALL WE HAVE...

Excellent write up as usual...

@ Niyi...when u said hope is like a muscle that needs to be exercised, jeez...u tore at my heart strings. Thank God. I pray God gives all of us the muscle strength to keep pushing...against all odds...

@ anonymous...I'm fine, thank God...I had to do an exam that morning...I missed u guys (real bad...lollll).

@ ONB darling, every time u post a comment you inspire me, because I know most times we as human beings first have to come to a point in our lives where we have to accept what has happened in our pasts, and when we do, Isaiah chapter 1 shows us that God Himself is telling us, "Come and reason with me..." Yes, ONB...keep hoping against all hope, and lets see if you won't succeed at the end. I read Psalm 61 this morning because I needed an extra burst of hope, and it said, "Hear my cry O Lord, attend to my prayers, I will call onto you from the ends of the earth, and when my soul feels OVERWHELMED lead me to the rock that is HIGHER THAN I." Hope causes us to know that God's name is EL SHADDAI (the ALL SUFFICIENT ONE)...His power is sufficient to drown all fears...

@ MyStories...yes HOPE is all we have and need to keep pushing...so that we can burst forth with shouting testimonies.

@ Nilla...shweet-hart, I've missed u o. Haba! I will soon be ur lil pest soon enough again sha, after sorting out some things I need to...

@ everyone, as I was writing this, I was speaking things that I needed to tell myself actually, sometimes u need to SPEAK THE WORD back to urself, because by speaking it out loud, you are prophesying to YOURSELF. God told Ezekiel to SPEAK TO THE DEAD BONES, so that they can live. So speak of HOPE, that u may live and not die. I'm so glad it applied to some of you guys as well. Mucho Love...

Keep your HOPE alive...ALWAYS...

It can be hard sometimes, to hope against hope, when the world crashes around one's ears.
But in this day and age, one either lives by faith or dies by sight.
Thank you for this post, jaycee
