Consider the LILIES...

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin.: "and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these...therefore, do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6: 25-34.

Consider the lilies of the field, oh how beautiful...but you are even more precious than they are in the eyes of your Father...

In the last month, God allowed a door to be closed in my life for a reason. I only just found out this reason when He opened another one to me. He has given me the brilliant opportunity to re-focus my career options in the area of public health, and hence continue my career in medicine later on (so that I can have two post-graduate degrees). Yesterday, I got admitted to a very renowned graduate school of public health, just like that (in the twinkle of an eye)~ despite the tight deadline schedule. It has to have been God because I can't imagine anything I did to deserve this. That's just a personal story I decided to share publicly so that all can see that once we give our lives to the Master Potter, He can re-mold and re-shape us into the perfect vessel (better than we can ever dream of). Now I know not to be scared of "CHANGE," because according to the Potter's books, He can change the clay pot into a better vessel. Now, I see myself even bigger than I saw myself in the past ~ imagine cupping both a master's and doctorate degree in the nearest future...blows my mind away. I read a scripture yesterday that says, "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as Your Father in heaven is perfect," (Matthew 5:48). So if God is perfect, why shouldn't His sons and daughters attain their Father's perfection? At this point, if you've been the one designing your future according to your own human intellect, I pronounce to you a better way today, commit your future (goals, careers, family, relationships, e.t.c) into the hands of the Master Potter. Try Him and see if His plans will not be a billion times better than yours. He can make your future more beautiful than you could have ever planned it yourself...

Consider the lilies, how radiant! But you are more precious in value than they are in God's eyes. You are His son, and you are His daughter. The lilies are not His children, yet He makes them so beautiful and radiant each morning. The lilies or the birds are not His young princes or princesses, yet He calls you His royal priesthood. Did God give any lily a signet ring to wear on its finger? No, but God declared in Haggai 2:23 that He will make you like a signet ring (a sign of kingly authority). He gave you dominion over all other creatures on the earth ~ the top of the food chain. So you must surely be more important than birds and lilies...He has you in mind...He knows and He sees all things...

And yet, we can learn from them...they look so content, joyful, drenched with dew, and beautifully radiant, and they definitely don't worry. They seem to have a better understanding that God has got their backs...

Jaycee, you had to go and do it didnt't you? a few days ago i left a comment on aoko's blog when she so beautifully phrased the question that is my life right now. i just knew that if God could use her to ask my question, then he could do the same for my answer. and you just had to go and sign up to be used, didn't you? i was so ready to pass this post off as coincidence, against my better judgment until i stumbled on the haggai verse. what were you thinking when you wrote that scripture? the same scripture that has been my prophecy these two years?

hmm, so now i have my answer, thanks to you.

it is just so amazing how God uses his kids to prop one another. thanks for being a vessel unto use..

@ Mimi, naija vixen, miss opeks, and olamild....thank youuuuu & a big Amen to the blessings.

I Gave this testimony to let others know that God can do the impossible and go above and beyond anything you can ever ask for...but you have to first come to Him first, believing that He is, and is able to do what He said He will do...

Congratulations miss lady! Thanks for sharing your testimony. Experienced one of such lately but not career related. He said "Bring those difficulties in ur eyes to me and watch how i turn those never believed it could, to how i now believe He can" Thank God for His blessings over your life once again!

Impressive I dare say - now Miss Jaycee, I wonder - what are you hoping to achieve with these skills that the Lord will give you.

I am glad to hear that you did not keep silent on the goodness of the Lord, but resolved to scream about it at the top of your voice.

I love it when God does something like this, like blows ones mind, and you start to wonder..ermmm why me. "to much is given, much is expected" and pray that the Lord will continue to give you the strength and guidance to use these skills wisely.

Congratulations again, and all the best.

What i absolutely love the most about this post is the fact that i get a glimpse into your life. Your posts are always so inspirational but i cant say i can paint a picture of who you are. This is so great...

Congratulations

@ rinsola...thank God...

@ mystores...He will fulfill your heart's desires...and if its an MPH you truly desire, and if its according to the specific will of God concerning your life, then He will do it for you too. I have a book filled with God's RESUME that records all the things He has done for people before, so if He has done it before, then He can definitely do it again.

@ Jem...yes, I heard a saying that says "change is inevitable," so we definitely have to embrace it the right way...by following God's footsteps...

@ the life...hmmm, thats a good question...God has to tell me exactly what He wants me to do with those two post-doctoral degrees (plus one B.S degree already attained) in the future, I'm sure He has something cooking up...trust God to already have a plan when you have NO CLUE!!!

@ Uzo, thank God you're beginning to paint a picture...I have been laying the foundations and premises on which I would bring forward a picture of who I really am...I am someone who cannot exist by herself, but by the grace of God. Someone whose life is no longer hers, but who sees herself as being moved by an invisible hand. 100% of the things that happen to me DAILY have not been planned or designed by me, so I really can't take any credit...sometimes I plan things, and then I see myself achieving something else...it's crazy! My will is no longer mine...(but as time goes on, I will pour out more pieces to the puzzle and God will reveal the whole picture to you (and me of course)...)

@ Ugo Daniels...cheers right back at you dear...(I printed out your writing about "self-esteem," it was phenomenal...)

Yemi said...

my question is HOW do you commit your life to God... cuz I think it's easier to say we should... but I want to know "how" to go about it

:-)

Jaycee said...

@ Yemi, that's an excellent question...

The first step is believing that God is Who He says He is (Heb 11:6 "for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him,") and therefore the first thing is accepting that God sent His only son, Jesus, to die for your sins, and therefore giving your life to Him.

The second step: Now, this is the part that we have to consciously do every single morning we wake up. Every morning you have to say "Lord, please order my steps today," and He will...

He can order your steps in so many ways if you can just ask Him (Matt 7 "Ask and ye shall receive"), it can be through a little voice in your head telling you to take an important step in ur life, it could be by God directing to a section of the bible that He wants you to apply to our your current situation, or it could be through the help of a friend or stranger...God works in many ways, and His ways are not our ways...neither are His thoughts the same as yours (He doesn't think the same way you think)...

But the hardest part of COMMITTING YOUR LIFE TO GOD is not "accepting Jesus," neither is it "hearing His Voice," but rather it is "OBEYING HIS COMMANDS..."(and His commands can be found right there in the bible). Many people can tell you they have a STRONG feeling that God is directing them somewhere, but do they really HEED His counsel/advice? Do they follow Him?

It's something all of us have to work hard in doing every single day...and I can tell you that I haven't even achieved the climax of where I want to be in obeying Him YET...I'm still trying to learn how to hear His voice and obey Him every single day...and I believe I'm learning a lot...but you have to want to come to God to learn first before He can start teaching you the baby steps of "how" to live by the book...

(so still email me if u have any specific questions abt this thing that we're all still trying to learn...and with God's help, we'll crack the puzzle...)

ps to ALL: even with this testimony, God has not finished directing me on what to do yet. I still have to WAIT for His voice and His direction on what to do. I'm not sure if I'm going to go into it immediately or not, but this testimony is my microphone to the public that GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE, IF YOU TRUST IN HIM, AND IF YOU WAIT ON HIM...

(wow, this was errrmmm kinda long, but worth it...lolll...) Thank God for everything...

Love,
Ciao...
xoxo...

How ironic, your story is similar to mine...hello future colleague and sister in Christ.

@yemi, she said it best, I know I have come a long way but I am nowhere where He needs me to be, so for that reason I "die everyday", begging Him to take me and make me whole every day. As intellects or humans, we have a tendency to want things to make sense, thats why I crave the innocence of a child, who just obeys and doesnt questions. The only way I know how to commit is to get in His presence, and talk to Him the way I would a dear friend...He hears.
