*Before the Silver Cord gets Loosed*

The 'Silver Cord' is a metaphysical term relating to the connection between the physical body and the spirit man. It is also a metaphor for the human body (wikipedia); the silver cord generally is used to refer to the spine, and the golden bowl the head of the body. This brings me to today's friday verse series. I was reading the book of Ecclesiastes and I felt like I was swimming in secret words of wisdom that were unleashed right from the belly of a wise scribe...

Right there, towards the end of the book, in chapter 12, I came across this prose:

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
"I have no pleasure in them":
While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain;

In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the grinders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim;
When the almond tree blossoms,
The grasshopper is a burden,
And desire fails...

Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
or the golden bowl is broken,
or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
or the wheel broken at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God Who gave it.

Many researchers have described a silver cord as an elastic cord that when stretched continuously it becomes thinner and thinner, until it cuts. Therefore, they have used that phrase to denote the period during dying where the physical man becomes disconnected from the spirit man.

Oh, this may seem so profound, but it is a very simple ideology: that God alone is Sovereign and He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, and the First and the Last. Even before time began He was. He was the One who constructed the entire foundations of our universe as we know it, yet we do not know the boundaries of the universe. His wisdom can never be paralleled or fathomed. Therefore, it was the conclusion of the author of the book of Ecclesiastes, as is also my conclusion today, that even in our YOUTH, we must remember our Creator. Thinking you have one life to live and so you must do everything doable is only a vain thought, for life is like a vapor slowly seeping to the top of an hour-glass. Many have left this world in their youth, and sadly some of them did not get a chance to do what they were created to do. To achieve their goals. To touch even one life.

But YOU have this chance. You're young, vibrant, and beautiful. You're alive and way better than a dead man. YOU of course had the chance to breathe the new oxygen of this morning's dawn. YOU have been given the chance to become born-again and embrace your Father's loving arms. YOU have been given the chance to live again, free from the sorrows and pains of yesterday.

YOU have been given the chance to have the JOY that only God can give.

Embrace it today...before the silver cord gets loosed...

Jaycee Hi,

I read your blog and get really touched by it, I also love seeing the new artists you showcase and I look them up and tell others about them. It is a great thing you are doing, God continue to be with you. I read you post on JOY and how we should be like deers (so to speak) and I've read the many comments. I am a Christian but right now I am truly doubting God, so much pain has come into my life why did he not stop it. Like one of readers wrote, I have prayed and prayed to God about this, I don't want to be sad anymore, we are all sinners in God's eyes and ask for forgiveness every day but the pain has been inflicted onto me by the actions of another close one and I really cannot deal with it. I've been to my minister. I've had friends pray for me and I have gone for counselling... where is this JOY I so long for and pray for...

@anonymous (above) - I'm glad to hear that you are drawing encouragement from reading Jaycee's blog, and i pray you that you make it through this season with your faith intact and strengthened. I'd like to correct one thing you've said tho' (with Jaycee's permission, of course) and that is

"..we are all sinners in God's eyes and ask for forgiveness every day.."

You've mentioned you are a christian, and therefore you are NOT a sinner in God's eyes at all. You are already forgiven and you ceased to be a sinner the day you accepted Jesus into your heart. You are now in him. When God looks at you, he sees Jesus, and i'm sure you agree that there is no sin in Jesus.

Of course we all fall short and even sin still, but when we do, we pick ourselves up and repent and carry on , because God's grace is sufficient.

I know that doesnt address your current issue, but please do not think of yourself as sinner who needs to beg God for forgiveness everyday. You were forgiven the day you let him into your heart.

@ Anonymous above, thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! I cannot even add anything to what you said. God bless u so much for ur encouragement, and may your mouth continually be filled with blessings and testimonies to share with people who come in contact with you!

I read something two days ago in Hebrews 10:22, "And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission." Then verse 26b-28 continues, "...but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself...so Christ was offered ONCE to bear the sins of many."

So you have been forgiven because Jesus died for you. Again, don't forget that ur sadness may come because the devil will never stop reminding you of past sins and hurts, He is the 'accuser of the brethen,' but then you ARE an "Overcomer," by the blood of the Lamb.

You mentioned how pain has come upon you through another loved one, hmmmmmm...my response is that man will fail you (because we have flaws), but God will never fail you. And when you find God, He will help you heal and know how to handle the imperfections of people who are close to you.

Holla back if u can pls...you're in a really good spot right now!
