The Triumphant Entry:

Tomorrow, the next president of the United States of America will be ascertained. My heart has unconsciously done uncountable skips since last night, as my head justifiably went over all the debates...over and over again, like the second hand of a wall clock. On Tuesday, God will give a man the power to rule a Nation, because He is the one who appoints kings on their thrones. On Tuesday, someone will make a triumphant entry. I wonder who it will be: the skinny black kid whose dream it has always been to find his place in a displaced and unbalanced scale and to give hope to the hopeless, or the bold and courageous veteran who risked his life on a platter of gold many times, for a country he claims to love so dearly? Only God knows...

Thousands of years ago, there was someone who made a triumphant entry. His name was Jesus, although His kingdom is the one that knows no end. It was time for the passover feast in the city of Jerusalem and at that time many hearts were focused on God, expecting Him to show up. And then He actually showed up! A prophecy was fulfilled that day which said, "Tell the daughter of Zion, behold your king is coming to you, lowly and sitting on a donkey..." (Zechariah 9:9). Some of the people knew instantly who it was, laying even their cloaks on the bare earth for the donkey to trod on...it was the One who had come to save them. Yet, some of the people asked in confusion "who is this?" To those who believed, their lives were restored.

On Tuesday night, one of the candidates would make his own triumphant entry and emerge as a king, by the people and for the people. And those who believe and hope in a better America may be restored.

God bless the United States of America...

the office of the presidency is such an important one... the next president appoints the next 3 supreme court justices.... and we know how sometimes that can go... the next president will affect the way other countries see us... when America sneezes... the rest of the world catches a cold...

I believe that whether it is Obama or McCain... it is God that will place the next person on this throne and whether we like the outcome of it or not, the chosen king, will need all of our prayers

yes... God Bless America...

lovely post as always J :-)

This further emphasizes how great God is- Imagine this: God knew who would be sworn in President come Jan 20 before the foundations of the earth was established.

God must be smiling right now seeing how tensed most of us are over the outcome of this election.

Come Tuesday night, most of us will know the mind of God.

Isnt it also exciting that Go would have revealed the winner to some of his chosen. Awesome!

Whatever the will of God is...

"I don't know God's will for America but 'GOD, if it is the Skinny Black guy...Please annoint Your son to be wise in the decisions he makes when in office. Give him wisdom and protect him.'"

But...

If it is the Bold veteran, Lord, I say, "Not another republican..."...But You, God say to me, "Be still and Know, I am GOD."

Let God's will be done. AMEN!!!

The Skinny American won...

BARACK OBAMA is the 44th US President...

History has truly been made...

I am still crying tears of joy because when others don't believe in you, just keep going and keep trusting God...and surely God will make a way through the storm...

For years to come preachers all over will use this man's life story in their sermons. Praise God!!!

Jaycee said...

Kemi, you are so right. Barack's story will be told time and time again, as a living testimony, even for generations to come.

My mum was shedding tears last night, all the way from Naija. Most of the international world is happy and excited at the prospects of America changing for the better...for America's future.

I'm probably going to be reflecting on this the whole day...

Rethabile said...

Doesn't "god Bless America" imply that the others shouldn't be blessed? I don't recall ever saying, "God Bless Lesotho." I recall singing "Gob Bless Africa, and its sons and daughters." But that is a song. What is this "God Bless America" thingy?

Jaycee said...

Hi Rethabile...

You have an excellent point there. Yet, I will encourage you not to think that way. The fact that Americans have coined this phrase is because they love their Country and they want God to bless it. Of course, you can definitely always use the phrase "God bless Lesotho," and God will be God concerning Lesotho. I loved your point of view though, thanks for stopping by :)

Rethabile said...

Cheers,
I had had a tough day and one more GBA proved too much. But God Bless America, if you'd like. I guess I'm free to ask God to bless Lesotho, too.

And in fact it all goes deeper than that, and is in relation, too, with what the United States has been doing around the world.

I say God bless us all.
