This Thing that's Killing You Softly...

Is it this thing? This insignificant and non-melodious rhythm plucking at your heart's strings? This outrageous dwarf that boasts as though it were a giant? Is it this powerless figment of your wildest imagination that seems to be as real as the sun light that pours down your skin? Is it this heart that beats so fast as though you will die in the next second?

What is it that troubles you so? Is it the late-night news or the shows that bring forth unneccesary laughter? Or is it your "un-shy" tears whenever you are in public? Is it the sadness of the season where plane crashes and wars are familiar tales? Or is it the inability to be who you really want to be, or the dream that dies in you immediately it surfaces?

What is it that kills your spirit? Is it the words of the devil and his agents that God is not real? Or is it the fear you have when you wake up in the morning only to find that you do not even own your own breath? Is it the mountains and the lakes which you did not create with your bare hands? Or the little artistic work you painted last night? Is it your architectural design in school or your project management at work? Or is it the patient that you could not cure who passed away last night? Surely, God can see much more further than your eyes can see...

What is it that freaks you out? Is it the books you've read about Demons and Angels? Or the fact that maybe they aren't real? Is it really that you have tried to change but it is absolutely impossible? Is it the fact that some people you look at "seem" to be holier than you, and you are not in their category? I laugh loudly at that...you must know that surely they are imperfect...if you look past the glory you will find the stains so red. But will it scare you when you realize that Jesus took all their stains away to make them white and He can do the same for you?

What is it that is killing you softly? It must not be the things of this world! It must not be those things that you desire so much, that if you don't get them NOW your world will end. It must not be those things! Why? Because there's something else much more important than the frailty of your heart.

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field..." Jesus (Matthew 13:44) Whatever you need to do to find this kingdom, do it now. You're wasting time. You can't buy time.

I love the song "voice of truth" by casting crowns, no matter what fears come to bear down on us, the voice of truth tells a different story, which do we choose to listen to...do we choose to "die" or to "live"

Hi Jaycee,

How have you been? Glad you are still able to steal some time out of your busy schedule to ‘provoke our minds’ with your usual thought-provoking post. This post certainly came at a time when my brain wants to burst open with ‘What happened?’, ‘Where did I go wrong?’, ‘Should I have done it this way?’, ‘Or that way?’...Lord, I have to stop now before it split into two before I ‘kill myself softly’ with the fact that I can’t reach a place without the help of the owner of the place. I can’t gain Heaven without the help of God.

Thanks as usual for always looking out for a friend with your inspiring post…The Lord is truly our strength.

Love,

Kemi

Powerful words that strike right to the heart of the matter. This post reminds me of when Jesus said, "He who wants to save his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for [My] sake will find it." Some things that we consider really important are really not. How are you missy?

very thought-provoking! we should be willing to lose our lives, not for the things of the world but for the things of the kingdom of God!

Some insightful words.
Only one thing should consume us and one thing only, living for him and his kingdom.

Well said

I don't think I would have known you linked to me b/c I'm really bad about keeping up with stats if one of your readers hadn't mentioned it. Thank you.

It looks like you have an edgy religion blog, too. I like it! I'll be back!

What if the thing that's killing you softly won't go away? And what if you know what you're supposed to do but you have a hard time doing it? And you keep praying for something that's just not happening?

@ Everyone...may God continue to inspire you with His words...I read all the comments and I smiled as I read...thanks.

@ Kemi...I like how you said "you can't get to heaven without the help of God." I couldn't have said it better.

@MJay...I love this quote, "the only thing constant is change." On the day you replied with your comment you were at a specific point in your life, and I really believe that the next day you were propelled by the Word of God to move forward. I dare not try to comprehend where you are today...LOL. I'm sure you're many steps ahead. May you continue to go higher and higher into God's presence and purpose for your life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

@ Lolia...I totally loveeee ur question, and I will say...just keep your eyes focused on God...because you can do it...your spirit will "eventually" get victory over ur flesh. Sometimes, our human brain will make us think that "this thing" won't go away...but I can assure u that it will...
